Have Fun With Our Amazing Activities At Karen Blixen Camp

Activities At Karen Blixen Camp

Come experience the serenity of a private conservancy situated on the rich banks of the Mara River located in the Mara North, one of the densest private wildlife conservancies in the Masai Mara ecosystem. Below are some of the activities you can engage yourself when you visit Karen Blixen Camp

Game Drives

Karen Blixen Camp invites our guests for game drives within the mara north conservancy for the utmost exclusive and private safari experience.

Guests of Karen Blixen Camp are able to enjoy early morning game drives, afternoon game drives, full day game drives, and thrilling night game drives within the Mara North Conservancy. Game drives are undertaken with a highly experienced driver guide who is committed to sharing his or her knowledge on wild animal behaviour and the complexity of the Mara Ecosystem.

Game Walks

Game walks at the camp gives you an astonishing feel of the Masai Mara Ecosystem. Walking through the diverse array of grasses enjoying the fresh smell of the plains and the prickly heat of the sun as we track and try to come close to the plain game as giraffes, wildebeests, zebras, Grant’s gazelles, Thompson’s gazelles, yellow baboons, and Kirks dik-dik. You get to learn about these fascinating animals and to understand the very unique behavioural and anatomical adaptations that help fit them into their role in the Mara ecology. For security reasons, we avoid any contact with the big five as the elephants, buffaloes or any of the big cat predators. All game walks are accompanied by an experienced Masai ranger (armed) and guides and arranged according to your endurance.

Nature Walks

Nature walks are kept within the camp and focus entirely on the rich bird life and little insects inhabiting the area and how the Masai make use of the indigenous plants for medical and ritual purposes.

Balloon Safari

There is nothing like flying high above the magnificent African savannah in a hot air balloon. Seeing nature at its best from a bird’s perspective is unimaginable until you’ve actually tried it! Karen Blixen Camp works closely together with Skyship Company, the best hot air balloon operator in East Africa with its own private launch site, only a few hundred meters away from the Mara River.

Skyship Balloon Safaris offers exclusive flights if you wish to fly privately in groups of 5-6, 10-12 or 14-16 people. The company is dedicated to balloon safaris only and provides maximum safety, comfort and enjoyment.

Bird Watching

Bird watching is an important element of every game drive and with over 550 bird species endemic to east Africa, watching birds’ behaviour in the Masai mara is really an adventure on its own. Take time to enjoy the birdlife of the Masai Mara. Birds are an important part of the Masai Mara.

Ecosystem. You can expect to see many different species from the larger cranes and bustards to the
colourful rollers and bee-eaters.

Blixen Helicopter Scenic Ride

There is so much more out there: Beyond Kenya’s famous savannah, there are palm-fringed beaches, stunning lakes, highland forests, and the dramatic Great Rift Valley. We will take you there and explore together. Our helicopter pilots are not only very experienced aviators, but they’re also well-travelled in the area and know the Mara like the back of their hands.
