The Magnificent Nairobi Gallery – Promoting Cultural Diversity 

The Nairobi Gallery a branch of the National Museums of Kenya is a gazette monument located at Kenyatta Avenue and Uhuru Highway roundabout next to Nyayo house. The building is an example of Victorian architecture situated at Kenya’s point zero from where distances to all corners of the country and subsequently to the continent and the world were measured from.

Art Exhibitions

An art exhibition from Nigeria

The Gallery has dedicated one room for hosting changing art exhibitions by both the pioneer and upcoming artists within and outside Kenya.

Point Zero

Magdalene Odunda’s clay vessel at the centre of the rotunda which is the point zero. She is the only Kenyan to achieve such a distinction, having received the OBE from the Queen of England

Original entrance leads to point zero location from where all the distances to all corners of the country were measured from.

The stone wall

The exterior of the building is decorated with columns, niches, friezes and pediments of natural stone.

Colonial Safes

The Nairobi Gallery has two old safes that were used by the colonial government.

The gallery holds various interactive programs to different audiences including school groups and artists.
